Effective September 1, Joyce Larkin, of Massapequa Park, has been promoted to Elementary Special Education Supervisor for the Massapequa School District.  She is responsible for overseeing special education instruction at three of the district's six elementary schools - McKenna, Lockhart and Fairfield.  Larkin became a special education teacher in 2004 as a second career after 17 years as a project manager in the telecommunications industry.  Prior to her promotion, she was a special education teacher at East Lake Elementary School.  She is a member of SEPTA and PTA, and received the SEPTA Honorary Life Membership Award in 2008.
