Sylvia Packard Middle School Finally Getting Knocked Down

Packard Middle School in North Massapequa is finally getting knocked down after years of being abandoned.  The middle school shut down over ten years ago.  Also this was the only school that had a planetarium inside it.  It was then a hang out for myself and many other young teenagers.  A few years later it was turned into a pre -school, that only lasted about a year before it had to shut down for unhealthy conditions inside the building.  Teenagers started breaking into the school and public security was hired to keep a watch out.  There has been a lot of meetings and talk of what the "new Packard" is going to be.  In the neighborhood kids mind Packard was a legend.  We all learned how to ride bikes there, learned how to skateboard, baseball practice, football games, man hunt, tag, and so much more.  Packard was the place to be for sledding during the winter weather its going down the parking lot hill or pulling each other across the field it was the best thing a kid could ask for.  Even the dogs loved it everyone walked there dogs down to the field and they could run freely. The demolition for the middle school recently began over the summer, its very upsetting for all of us to see.  It will soon be a big field for baseball, softball, play grounds and more.
