Another Amazing

Young Man

I have 8 grandchildren. They live in distinctly different households across our beautiful and vast country,

They are the children of my three sons, and have little in common outside of a possible and remote genetic inheritance.

Due to geography and a few other career and yes, relationship issues, our 8 grandchildren spent virtually no time together “Visiting Grandma’s House.”

Before my husband’s death, it was far easier for he and I to travel and visit. And we did that often until his declining health intervened

However, today I was given an unexpected gift by one of the amazing group of young adults I still call “grandchildren.”

It was the first of its kind, and I must admit I am thrilled.

Will, is not the oldest nor the youngest, but unique because he has not missed a Sunday visit in the 8 years since I relocated to Michigan,

My birthday is still six weeks away. However, last evening during his weekly FaceTime visit, Will asked what I would like for my October birthday.

While I was surprised, and yes, delighted, I knew immediately.

I asked Will to write me a letter and I know when he does, I will treasure it for the length of my days.

And keep it tucked with others that are tied with a very faded blue silk ribbon and written quite long ago by another amazing young man.
