Authorities Investigating Massapequa Split-Level After Basement Fire, Officials Say
Fire officials say a Tuesday afternoon basement fire took about 25 firefighters to extinguish.
MASSAPEQUA, NY — A Massapequa split-level home is being investigated by the county fire marshal and police arson/bomb squad Tuesday after a fire in the home’s basement was called in at 1:28 p.m., fire officials said.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's office said the fire broke out in a home on Violet Street Tuesday afternoon, with about 25 Massapequa Fire Department firefighters responding to the scene. Fire officials said the fire was under control in about 20 minutes with no reported injuries.
In the aftermath of the fire, the Massapequa Park building inspector was called to the scene to assess damages while the county fire and police investigators are looking into its cause, officials said.
