Beaches Across Nassau Reopen After Storm Runoff, Bacteria Concerns

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Beaches reopened across Nassau County on Tuesday after storm runoff caused the potential for high levels of bacteria in the water.

Eighteen beaches, including four on the south shore, were closed on Monday.

The advisory was issued as a precaution for beaches known to be impacted by storm runoff from heavy rain.

The four south shore beaches impacted were:

  • Biltmore Beach Club – Massapequa
  • Hewlett Point Beach – East Rockaway
  • Island Park Beach – Island Park
  • Philip Healey Beach – Massapequa
