Berner MS Goes Online This Week After Student Gets Coronavirus

The district said that contact tracing showed the student had "greater contact" with staff and other students.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — Berner Middle School will be closed this week and all students will be on distance-learning after a student tested positive for the coronavirus, the district announced.

According to the Massapequa School District, a student at Berner tested positive for the coronavirus. Contact tracing showed that the student had "greater contact" with other students and staff, the district said.

Because of that, the school is moving to remote learning for the week for all students.

According to data from the state, Massapequa has had seven students test positive for the virus since school began last month. Not all of those cases have led to closures.
