Because the small but distinctive iPad is used only when I depart from my apartment, I keep it in a rather insignificant black tote bag hanging from my walker.
Distracted by an unexpected incident as I was leaving the dining area, I forgot the small black inconspicuous item. It remained on the table when I departed.

Since most of my personal communication is recorded on another larger tablet, I had no need for the mini device until later in the day.
It was 9 pm when I realized I had abandoned the device in the dining area.
Instantly I utilized Apple's vital tool “Find My I-pad” on my primary computer.
With the help of both staff and the now determined location, the missing item has now been recovered.
However, it was another lesson I learned in today’s constantly evolving world.
It alerted me to a growing dependence on technology rather than human contact that I currently have in my own complicated landscape of life.
And I wonder how much that will escalate for future generations.
And, of course, believe that it is now well beyond our control.
