Bread-Sliced Bagels: Terrible Or Terrific?
People have very strong opinions about this "St. Louis secret." How does this picture make you feel?
A picture of bagels sliced in a...unique way has taken the internet by storm, and has left many New Yorker's with a bad taste in their mouths.
Alex Krautmann bought bagels from Panera and brought them to his office for his co-workers. He introduced them to the "St. Louis secret" of having the bagels sliced like bread.

Reactions to Krautmann's photo were very strong. Many people felt that slicing bagels that was was a travesty. Krautmann defended the practice, though, saying that it gives more surface area for spreading cream cheese.

Thank you for reporting this crime, but we only serve New York City, where this would NEVER happen. https://t.co/dNCyX56svk

But Krautmann did find at least one supporter.
Hey Alek, next time bagels are on us, sliced however you'd like. Can you DM us?
