Burglar Found Hiding in Upstairs Closet of Nassau Home: Police

The 43-year-old man was charged with burglarizing the vacant home on Monday, police said.

MASSAPEQUA, NY - A Wyandanch man was arrested after he was found hiding in a vacant Massapequa home on Monday morning, according to Nassau Police.

Police received a call for a burglary in progress at a Soloff Road home at about 3:50 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers heard the sound of banging of metal coming from the attached garage area of the home, police said.

Officers entered the house and immediately saw a large amount of copper piping stacked in the middle of the floor.

After searching this house, they found 43-year-old Terry Coleman hiding in an upstairs coat closet, police said.

He was placed under arrest without incident.

Coleman is being charged with second degree burglary, police said.

He will be arraigned on Tuesday.
