NEW YORK — Steeped in the tradition of beloved variety shows, “Live, Laughin’ & Lyrical: A Magical Holiday-Themed Night of Broadway, Comedy & Song”, presented by comic power houses Mike Keegan and Richie Byrne, is set to delight.
The one-night-only show features stellar offerings from iconic Broadway performers, laughs from some of New York’s top comics, original live music and hilarious comedy sketches — ringing in the holidays with a trifecta of talent.
Hosted by A-list comedians Mike Keegan and Richie Byrne, the event takes place on Thursday, December 4 at Chelsea Table & Stage, located at 152 West 26th Street, New York, NY 10001.
Comedian Richie Byrne has a long and star-studded career, performing at Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, and top comedy venues nationally and internationally. He has been a warmup comic for the “Rachael Ray Show,” and “The Drew Barrymore Show” — and “The Dr. Oz Show”, where he was a mainstay for more than a decade. He has a string of TV credits including “Sex & the City,” “The Sopranos,” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.” He’s also been featured in independent films and has produced and starred in his own musical variety series, “The Richie Byrne Show.”
Mike Keegan is a fast-rising and well-loved Long Island comic who’s won acclaim in contests including “NYC’s Best New Comic of 2012.” His comedy album was recently #1 on Apple music.
Luminous Broadway talent Janine LaManna has graced the Great White Way in productions including “The Drowsy Chaperone,” “Sweet Charity,” “Seussical,” “The Look of Love,” “Swing,” “Kiss Me, Kate,” and “Ragtime.”
Also featured on the star-studded lineup are The Morris Brothers, who’ll complement the punchlines with dazzling original music and legendary bass lines. The band features Robert Morris on bass, Steven Morris on guitar, Mark Pardy on drums, and Andrew Fisher on piano. All are veterans of countless Broadway shows, film and music venues around New York and beyond.
Rounding out the innovative gem of an evening are comedians Chris Roach and Eric Haft. Roach tours with Kevin James — he also played “Mott” on the TV sitcom, "Kevin Can Wait" — and has been seen in “The Instigated, with Matt Damon. Haft is a staple in the New York comedy scene who has performed at the Borgata in Atlantic City and The Paramount theater in Huntington.
“The show, a labor of love to present all that is sublime about New York, is a nod to the iconic variety show of days gone by, infused with Broadway classics, marked by cutting-edge original music and comedy, and studded with hilarious sketches,” Byrne said. “It’s a veritable feast of talent as comedy, music and theater combine for one night only in New York City.”
