Chiefs Top Jets in Offensive Slugfest
A big defensive stand in the fourth led to a 48-40 win for Massapequa.
When East Meadow capitalized on a Matt Caracappa interception right before halftime, it looked like momentum had swayed in their favor.
But the Chiefs did not give up.
Neither team had answers for the opposing offense, as East Meadow led 34-28 at the half, but it was defense that made the ultimate difference.
Down 40-35 after three periods, the Chiefs shut out East Meadow in the fourth to steal a 48-40 win.
Craig Berge had five receptions for 35 yards, but two of them were for touchdowns, including the game-winning catch early in the fourth quarter. Matt Caracappa threw for four touchdowns on the day.
For East Meadow, Nick Suchocki and John Wilson each rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the losing effort.
Nick Balzano led the way on defense with 13 tackles for Massapequa.
Up next, Massapequa heads to Uniondale Saturday at 1:30 p.m. East Meadow faces Central High School at 1:30 p.m. as well at Fireman's Field.
