Ex Massapequa Star Named Hofstra Lacrosse Co-Captain

Stephen Bentz one of five who will lead the Pride.

Former Massapequa High School star Stephen Bentz has been named captain of the Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team.

Bentz, an attackman, was one of five seniors named co-captains of the Pride.  The senior was third on the team in scoring last season with 29 goals and 12 assists for 41 points.

He had a career-high five goals in three games against Drexel, UMass and Johns Hopkins.

In high school, Bentz helped lead the Chiefs to two county championships and was a two time honorable mention  all county Lacrosse player.

He also starred in football and basketball at MHS.

In addition to Bentz, attackman  Jay Card, midfielders Steven DeNapoli and Tim Holman, and defenseman Mike Skudin  were named as Hofstra captains.

The Pride's season gets underway Feb. 15 against Colgate University.
