Fairy Tales and

Happy Endings

Once upon a time I dreamt about being a Princess. Possibly that was because in most of the fairytales I devoured, the Queen never held any appeal.

Many of the female Monarchs were evil and cruel while the mythical Princesses were not only beautiful and virtuous, but eventually they were rewarded with the love of a handsome Prince,

Obviously, my dream was unfulfilled and mostly forgotten until quite recently.

Today as I look back in time, I am confounded by the latest headlines about a current Princess.

The world we live in is saturated with news about Botox and/or Face Lifts, as well as the new miracle drug, Ozempic.

Meanwhile there is a current fear the world may be on the brink of nuclear war.

Our beautiful country is divided by politics and the controversy is fueled daily more and more by most news channels.

Yet the most popular topic of conversation is about a digitally altered photo.

It causes me to wonder about several things including my own reaction to the well read headlines.

Is it possible the lurid and admittedly imaginative theories permit us to escape reality?

Does the ability to freely discuss, gossip and yes be judgmental about a real life Princess and her handsome Prince provide comfort during a tumultuous time in our own world?

Perhaps it is not quite different from once reading fairytales that always provided a happy ending.

Only now we hope life becomes beautiful again for the real life Princess and her handsome Prince.

Because most of us still crave the good news in life as well as fiction.
