Family Searches For Missing Dog

Buddy, a 1 1/2 year old Beagle Lab mix was last seen in Massapequa on Sept. 20.

A Wantagh family is searching for their missing dog last seen in Massapequa this week.

The dog, Buddy, was recently staying with a pet sitter while the family went to Florida when he managed to get out of the house and has been missing ever since.

The pet sitter lives off Hicksville Road in Massapequa near Merrick Road. Buddy was last seen on Merrick Road near John J. Burns Park on Wednesday Sept. 20 in the evening.

He is a 1 1/2 year old Beagle Lab mix. He is all black with a bit of brown on his hind legs and belly. He has some black spots on his tongue. He weighs 50 pounds.

He was not wearing a collar but he does have a microchip.

The family, who started the Facebook page "Find Buddy," advises residents not to chase him.

"He is very nervous dog. He is unlikely to come to a person. It is possible he may come to another dog," they wrote on the page.

The family has been searching and has explored several leads, but has still not found Buddy.

The Facebook page has received over 800 "Likes" from people helping to search for the young lab.

If anyone spots Buddy, call 516-508-1888, There is a $1000 reward for his safe return.
