Firefighters are battling a basement fire that broke out at a Massapequa restaurant on Thursday afternoon.  The Massapequa Fire Department responded to the scene of New York Burger Bar at 4225 Merrick Road around 12:30 p.m. Multiple other fire departments are also helping to battle the blaze.       Merrick Road is closed in both directions from Forest Avenue to Hicksville Road due to the fire, Nassau Police said in a traffic advisory at about 1:30 p.m.        This is a breaking news story.
