Gillies: Brooklyn Will Be Exciting

Speaking at the Islanders viewing party at TGI Friday's, Hockey Hall of Famer Clark Gillies said fans will enjoy watching games at the new arena.

New York Islanders great and hockey Hall of Famer Clark Gillies on Thursday stopped by the TGI Friday's in Massapequa, where he signed autographs and spoke with fans during the team's viewing party at the Sunrise Highway restaurant.

Gillies also talked about the team's move to Brooklyn, saying that while he was disappointed the team was leaving the Nassau County area, fans were fortunate the Isles were staying in the region.

The Islanders are moving to Brooklyn in 2015.

"At the end of the day we are going to be moving into a new building and I think people will enjoy going to the Barclays Center, Gillies said. "From what I understand, it's beautiful."

Gillies won four Stanley Cups as a key member of the Islanders dynasty in the early 1980s. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2002.

Fans went home happy as the Islanders came away with a 2-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
