Governor Sets Special Election For 17th Assembly District

The seat was left vacant after Tom McKevitt retired.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo set a special election date of April 24 to fill vacancies across the state, including the 17th Assembly District here in Nassau County.

The seat was held for years by Thomas McKevitt, a Republican from East Meadow. McKevitt vacated the seat last year to run for a seat on the Nassau County Legislature, which he won.

The 17th Assembly District includes East Meadow, Levittown, Plainedge, Massapequa, South Farmingdale and parts of Bethpage.
