Great Animals Available for Adoption this Week, and where to donate Some Much Needed Items For a Good Cause.
With the weather as cold as it is right now, its a very busy time for our local shelters. There are many adorable and loving animals that can't wait to find their forever homes and become your forever snuggle bunnies. Here are just some of the great dogs and cats available for adoption this week.
Available at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter is Milan (the super cute smiling pictured pooch). Milan is a lovely 6 year old mixed breed lady who was brought to the TOH Shelter by a nice police officer in March 2013. Milan is a woman of a certain age and maturity and deserve some love, attention and relaxation. While this beauty is all smiles, sadly, the behavior staff thinks she may have been hit in the past. But even a rough past doesn't stop this gal from keeping high hopes, as she fancies herself to be quite the lovable lap dog. Milan would be great with older kids, loves toys (especially tug), and I must note that the behavior staff thinks she might make a great pet therapy dog someday. Milan is aged to perfection and would love nothing more than to go home with you tonight. Why not make her dreams come true?
And this past weekend while dropping off some blankets to the TOH Shelter, I had the great pleasure of meeting Scotty, the Shelter's office Mascot! Scotty (pictured) is awesome. In fact, there's no getting around quite how awesome this little guy is. This extraordinary 3 year old timid boy has been at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter for two years, overlooked not because he isn't most amazing dog--he is the MOST extraordinary dog... see Scotty, instead of coming to the front of his kennel when adopters come through, he hangs back, lacking the confidence to say, "I am worth taking!" Scotty is kind to all human beings, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He hasn't been tested with cats but the shelter will test him if your heart and home are open to him. Please show Scotty the kindness he shows everyone else...it's not just an act of kindness to Scotty, but to all the people at the shelter who believe in him and are rooting for him. Lets beam Scotty up to his forever home today!
Another perfect pooch available at the TOH Shelter is Sebastian (pictured with the great blue bow-tie).Sebastian is a 1 year old male mixed breed who was brought to the shelter as a stray in January 2014. The medical staff treated him for bilateral ear infections and gave him a complete vet check up. Sebastian is up to date on all his vaccinations, he's been behaviorally evaluated and he will be altered and given a microchip prior to adoption. His ideal family would be with teens and up and those who are dog savvy. Please visit this big boy at the shelter and consider making him part of your family! You will be rewarded with endless love and affection!
And the TOH Shelter doesn't just have great doggies, they have the puurfect feline for your family too. Just take Darien (pictured). This handsome fella is about 6 years old, has been altered, tested negative for aids/leukemia and has all age appropriate shots...aka- he's ready to take home today! Darien is a special little guy who's left ear is a little deformed as a result of a hematoma he had a long time ago, but I would say this adds character to his already bright personality. Darien is described by the staff as very friendly and outgoing, so how about taking this little guy home today. And waiting patiently for their forever homes at Last Hope Animal Rescue is Axl and Ralphie. Axl (pictured) is a small boned Heeler mix with a docked tail who just arrived from Kentucky. Axl is a sweet and handsome boy with just the right amount of energy and a ton of love to give. Axl would make a great friend to play out in the snow with, and when its time to relax, Axl would gladly lay at your feet while enjoying some relaxing quiet time. So why not toss on your coat, head down to Last Hope, and meet this sweetheart today.
And who's that adorable furry cat? Why that's Ralphie! Ralphie (pictured) is a 4 year old, extremely handsome domestic longhaired tabby & white cat.whose owner had to move out of state. Ralphie looks like he could be crowned the king of all cuddlers, so why not bring this strapping man home for a good old fashioned snuggle tonight? For more information on Axl, Ralphie, and the other great animals available for adoption at Last Hope, check out their website at http://lasthopeanimalrescue.org/
Please remember that the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter continues to conduct their ongoing blanket/bedding drive and would greatly appreciate any donations which can be dropped off at the shelter during regular business hours. Animals can develop unnecessary skin problems from laying on a floor that does not have sufficient covering. Lets provide these little guys/gals with some comfort.
Thanks for reading and please remember- don't shop, adopt!
