“Just Do Right…”

“Just do right…the truth is: right may not be expedient, it may not be profitable, but it will satisfy your soul,” Dr. Maya Angelou. Ah, the wisdom of a great one.

Isn’t it wonderful that God plants these fabulous, high spirited, esoterically endowed, and loving people in our life? They forge onward full of acquiescence with a mighty stronghold to manifest what was prescribed by the Holy One, and always harnessing kindness, gentleness, and peacefulness as a motto and an empowering love song for the defiled, deprived, and destitute. It is also the ballad for all humanity, because what affects one leaches out in blatant and insidious ways to shape and/or destroy others. Are you building up mankind, or tearing it down? Don’t answer too quickly. Slow moving and under the radar harmful mannerisms are just as caustic as a bomb exploding at your door.

For those of you who are familiar with my published works and ethics for the last two plus years, it comes as no surprise that my happy-spot resides in my overt predilection and unwavering penchant for Soul Talk- it always gets my attention. Like a budding flower stretching to and yearning for the warm invisible life-giving and healing rays of the sunlight, my Soul cannot resist. Since our Souls come from the Heavenly Creator of all, we are not only linked to Him eternally, but each other as well. Sit with that notion for a while.

Throughout the millennia, this truth has been negated, concealed, and fiercely dissected like a rabid carcass that no longer seeks restitution, but merely rest. We do not consider one another to be the “same” or siblings, but rather as competitors, liabilities, and inconveniences that if we overlook will fade into the background, and if we are really successful – go far away. Is this what a loving God would do? Do you?

We are propelling ourselves through Lent: fasting, praying, and possibly providing a charitable deed or two, but are you listening to the Voice of The Lord, who recommends feel-good endeavors and steadfast sociability, or are you clinging to tawdry and self-centered principles unwilling to reconcile? A new pair of eyes is required for a conversion of the hardened heart, or at the very least, sparkling unblemished lenses, which enable the realities of life to ramble into our backyards and project their viable, disparaging, and neglected stories. Discriminatory vision with a shackled heart will only give us more of what already exists in this material world – hate, war, power struggles, greed, and misplaced righteousness. These alkaloid and discursive sentiments need to be scrapped so that we may adopt pristine premises filled with peace, tolerance, and hope with love driving the vessel, especially when it drops anchor on unaccustomed and foreign lands.

“Just do right…” Why is this simple clause difficult for many? Have they lost their way, severed their connection to all that is, are their systems filled with bile that seeps into their crooked pathways? Whatever the obstruction or cause, it can be remedied. Living on the physical plane is a precarious trip, and it isn’t meant to be traveled alone. Hold out your hand…the universe is waiting to witness you at full throttle as a shining Soul securing peace and justice where it has been dismissed and denounced. We can do better:
~ I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert,” Isaiah 43:19.~

Why should we strive for this? Because, our heritage is grand:
~ “You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy,” Leviticus 19:2. ~
