Eighteen years ago, Julie, one of the trio of beautiful daughters of my heart, sent a message across country,

She wisely suggested I seek counseling as I tried to cope with the long heartbreak of saying goodbye to my beloved.

I knew she was right and with the gentle guidance and wisdom of Barbara St. Pierre, I survived, bloody and broken, but to some degree intact.

And until now that has been my only experience with the need for counseling.

I recalled the kindness and wisdom of both women (who never met each other) this morning when I encountered another far more trivial need for assistance.

And of course, it involved my current nemesis, AI.

Will’s birthday is Monday, and I ordered his traditional gift (NY black and white cookies) online for delivery. Early this morning I received a delivery notification alerting me the gift was en route to another state and another recipient.

Immediately I contacted the customer service number for the site and vividly described my anguish at Will’s lost birthday gift, I will never know the young woman’s name, and like Barbara and Julie, we will never meet.

Yet with her kindness and empathy I was able to get the gift rerouted and en route in time for my Grandson’s birthday celebration. And the famed words from Tennessee Williams, “Kindness From Strangers” came to mind.

And, yes, recognizing another need, I do plan to seek counseling this week from both Apple Support and the wise Ronessa as I continue being challenged by the formidable AI.
