Man Arrested, Had Over 100 Cases Of Fireworks: Nassau County Police

MASSAPEQUA, NY — A Massapequa man faces charges after he was found in possession of more than 100 cases of fireworks the weekend before the Fourth of July, according to police.

Michael Masone, 37, of East Shore Road, was arrested during an investigation by the Nassau County bomb squad, police said. Detectives seized 113 cases of fireworks and 400 mortars that belonged to Masone, according to police.

Masone was charged with fireworks possession and multiple explosives charges, police said, adding his arraignment was set for Sunday.

“For the safety and security of all residents and visitors, Nassau County Police will continue their zero-tolerance approach regarding the possession and illegal use of fireworks,” police said in a news release. “The Nassau County Police Department reminds its residents that the use of explosives, including fireworks, is illegal and extremely dangerous.”
