Man Attempts to Rob Massapequa Bank

The attempted robbery occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

MASSAPEQUA, NY - A man attempted to rob a Massapequa bank on Tuesday afternoon, according to Nassau Police.

The man entered TD Bank on 5555 Merrick Road at about 4 p.m., approached the manager and gave her a note demanding money, police said.

The manager told the man that she was not a teller and did not have any money.

The man then fled the bank without any money and was last seen heading northbound on Carman Mill Road. No injures were reported.

The man is described as 25-years-old, 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-3 tall with a thin build and light brown hair, police said. He was wearing a baseball cap with an emblem on it with a white towel underneath, a tan short sleeved work shirt with emblems on it over a gray long sleeved shirt and tan pants.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding the attempted robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
