Man Charged In String Of Robberies Targeting Vitamin Shoppe, Others

A Brooklyn man faces multiple charges after police took him into custody at the Vitamin Shoppe in Massapequa on Friday, authorities said.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — A Brooklyn man is facing charges in connection with a string of robberies after police said he targeted the Vitamin Shoppe in Massapequa and Merrick as well as several other locations.

Abdourahmane Seck, 34, is charged with third-degree robbery, three counts of petit larceny, and criminal possession of a weapon, according to Nassau County police.

According to police, officers were notified Friday about a larceny at the Vitamin Shoppe, located at 2100 Merrick Rd. in Merrick and were also told the suspect planned on targeting another location at 1050A Sunrise Highway in Massapequa.

A Nassau County officer went to the Massapequa store and waited until Seck arrived, police said. Seck parked his car and went into the store, exiting a few minutes later, according to authorities. When he did, Seck was stopped by police and taken into custody, authorities said.

Officers also found a loaded handgun in Seck's car, police said.

Seck was also charged in connection to incidents at the following locations, police said:

  • A robbery at 345 Rockaway Turnpike in North Lawrence on May 21.
  • A larceny at 3145 Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown on May 26.
  • A larceny at 2330 Jericho Turnpike in Garden City Park on Mary 26.

Seck was scheduled to be arraigned in Nassau County court on Saturday, police said.
