Mary’s Resolution

Isn’t it funny how some of life’s escapades and miraculous acts seek you out? No grand drum roll or precautionary anecdote dictating righteousness is necessary, just the blazing truth seared on your Soul.
She was brought to me by Jean, who is the orchestrator of the Pilgrim Virgin Visits sponsored by the Legion of Mary members, and she fortunately gets to house Mary in her home several times a year. In the interim, she tenderly and lovingly transports Her to others who are looking for Her peace and blessings.
I was in for a treat!
Mary arrived on Tuesday, December 15th on the backseat of Jean’s cranberry colored sedan. She was tucked safely into a large, blue, plain duffle bag guarded by a thick blanket of robin’s egg palette with Styrofoam filling and a removable ornate, golden crown, which Jean applied to Her head once She was positioned on my Dining Room table.
She was absolutely stunning standing an impressive twenty-five inches including Her majestic headpiece. A pale, creamy, yellow garment covered Her head, and was draped over the majority of Her body giving Mary an illusionary radiant glow. All around the edge of the fabric surrounding her lovely face and down to Her pretty feet was a shimmering, flaxen hue binding etched in a fancy design. Hand-painted sketches also accompanied it proximally, and small vibrant jewels embellished the already intricate patterns that subtly silhouetted Her bodice.

Set high upon the table, larger than life amidst the diminutive Christmas villages, Nativities, and decorations, She transformed the room with an indisputable similarity to my mind’s juxtaposed vision of Jesus perched on the Mount delivering The Beatitudes to eager ears millennia ago. Jean and I stood with Mary while Jean recited a prayer to welcome Mary into my home, and also asked for Her peace to fill it. In an almost trance-like state, clinging to each word, I repeated every sentence Jean declared in my head – begging for Mary’s Peace to fill my home and all of us who live here… Amen.
Probably due to my desperate plea and open-heartedness, I could feel Her Peace envelop me immediately, which brought tears to my eyes, and assured me that Her visit would be an unconditional blessing. All I had to do was asked, and Mary would provide it. Amazing!
Even though darkness pervaded the northern hemisphere, Mary was surrounded by all the miniature Christmas trees and illuminated holiday arrangements and garland in the abundantly adorned room. She was aglow with all the incandescence that symbolizes and celebrates Her Son, Jesus Christ.
Shortly before bed, I realized that the Christmas lights would be turned off, and Mary would be in the dark – that could not be!
I asked if anyone had a small lamp or equivalent to shine upon Mary while we slept. No one did. Then, I remembered a cute, little, metal lamp with partially cut-out butterflies and flowers, and a heart ensconced on it that I had purchased over a decade ago, which just sat in my Den (never turned on). Well, maybe this is why I bought it all those years ago – to illuminate Mary! I ran to fetch it, and plugged it into an outlet. It worked! Mary looked effulgent, and the whole area with Mary was gleaming.
Dec. 16th: I woke up to a phone call from a Youth Minister from a neighboring parish. I had left her a phone message weeks ago, and had given up on anything coming of it. I was wrong. I intuitively knew that Mary had Her Hand in this. After all, it was so my youngest child, Jack, could develop a more heartfelt relationship with Her Divine Son, Jesus, and also with God’s other children. Thank you, Mary! The woman and I chatted for 20 minutes discussing the innovative techniques that she utilizes with the participants. She was engaging, and the conversation was positive and encouraging. A great way to start the day!
Shortly after, I sat in the doorway of my Dining Room/ Kitchen sipping my tea with Mary, and I thanked Her for Her Peace, which I clearly felt yesterday as well, and the phone call this morning. As I sat in my tranquil fog, I noticed a movement in the reflection of the china cabinet glass, and I focused on it to see what was stirring when all was still.
It was the Santa in his sleigh that towers and glides above the Christmas village that overtakes my whole buffet. “How odd,” I thought. Then, as my cognizance surged, I realized the entire village was lit up and sparkling. It wasn’t on when I came downstairs, and I was the only one home. I instantly knew it was Mary. Of course She would want to highlight Her Son’s glorious birth with all of the celebratory lights and “Christ” mas decorations with the blessed Nativity as the centerpiece. Perhaps, it was also a kind and spectacular acknowledgement because I couldn’t leave Her alone in the darkness. She was returning the favor with a dazzling Christmas display, and thanking me. What a beautiful blessing for Mary to manifest for me! Thank you, Mary. I love you. Her blessings have begun…

I didn’t want to appear greedy, but figured now was the time to lay requests at Her dainty feet. Jack had a dental appointment later today, and being a lackadaisical teen who hasn’t established the soundest oral hygiene habits, I prayed intensely for Her to help him have no cavities. This is no trite or laughing matter. The desired outcome of this bargaining invocation could be more miraculous than Mary fueling and animating my buffet. No caries were noted.
Some may think I am over-reaching by attributing these blessings to Mary: the unexpected, given up upon phone call, the lit up Christmas display, and Jack’s unlikely stellar check-up, but I know better. In case you are chalking up the “turned on” village to a faulty outlet, wiring, or electronics, there is a small but critical nugget of information that needs to be understood. All of the Christmas decorations throughout my whole house are regulated by one switch. So, if something is flipped on, everything is on. This was not the case Wednesday morning. Only the singular furniture was affected. A series circuit was overrode by Divine Grace and a brave woman, who complied with God’s ordinance.
Thank you Mary, for shining your beautiful, serene light upon my household and family. You demonstrate all the Good that is possible for this world. Bless you, for your Love, Light, and Peace. May each of us emulate you and your Son, our Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ – by shining our Light for all to see.

Mary said, “Yes” to God’s request over two thousand years ago with Her openness and willingness to obey even though She was not sure how what was being stipulated would occur nor was she aware of the many ramifications that she would subject Herself to by Her agreement. What is The Lord asking of you? What is holding you back?
Mary’s Resolution changed the world forever. What will you devote yourself to this New Year? Imagine all the incredible feats and achievements you will set in motion by changing the way you do one simple thing each day. Never underestimate small steps as they accomplish much. I can’t wait to see what you create… May it bloom on God’s breath.
