Massapequa Athletics Director Earns Prestigious Distinction
Shannon McEntee was recognized as a certified athletic administrator by the National Interscholastic Athlete Administrators Association.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — Shannon McEntee, the director of physical education, health, athletics and recreation for the Massapequa School District, has been recognized as a certified athletic administrator. The distinction is bestowed by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
McEntee joined the district in 2021, bringing experience as an administrator, teacher and coach. Before coming to Massapequa, she was administrator for physical education in the Sachem School District for four years, and taught physical education and health for 11 years at South Side High School in Rockville Centre.
To become a certified athletic administrator, McEntee demonstrated the highest level of knowledge and expertise in the field of interscholastic athletic administration. The voluntary certification process included a thorough evaluation of educational background, experience and professional contributions, as well as a rigorous, comprehensive written examination. She is now part of a select group of athletic administrators nationwide to attain this level of professionalism.

McEntee earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and health and a master’s degree in health education from Adelphi University, where she played soccer. She holds building and district leadership certifications from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She also holds a certificate from the American Military University in Athletic Administration.
