Massapequa Baseball Goes Undefeated on Weekend Trip to Albany
The Chiefs defeated both Guilderland and Colonie over the weekend in non-league match ups.
The Massapequa varsity baseball team has developed a reputation of being one of the top-rated high school programs in the state of New York. The Chiefs always look to challenge themselves year after year with some of the top competition the state has to offer.
Massapequa won the state title in 2006 with a win over Colonie followed by Long Island championships in 2007 through 2009 in addition to 2006. The team traveled up to Albany over this past weekend to take on Colonie again, but first played a non-conference game against the 2010 state runner-up, Guilderland.
Massapequa went from wrapping up a sweep of conference opponent Freeport on Thursday afternoon to taking the trip upstate to play Guilderland on Friday night at Dutchman Field. The Chiefs fell behind early, but came back to win, 6-3.
