Massapequa School Budget Passes

MASSAPEQUA, NY — The results are in, and the Massapequa School District's budget passed.

The vote was 6,536 to 3,485 in favor of the spending plan.

There were also six people running for two open seats on the Board of Education. Incumbent Trustees Gary Baldinger and Cher LePre both kept their seats, earning 6,489 votes and 5,450 votes, respectively.

Challenger Tina Cardali earned 3,038 votes, Joshua Banfield earned 1,806 votes, Panagiotis Petkanas earned 650 votes and Deodat Somaiah earned 506 votes.

All of the votes were cast by absentee ballot this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
