Captains Christian Smith and Christopher Husmann lead Massapequa.
The Massapequa boys volleyball team has been dominant in almost every match they've played this year, so it was no surprise the trend continued in their playoff opener.
Massapequa was impressive in each game sweeping Uniondale at home, 25-12, 25-10, 25-12 Wednesday night.
Captains Christian Smith and Christopher Husmann each led their teams offensively and defensively, providing important strikes and serves throughout the game.

The Chiefs picked apart the outmatched Uniondale team in the first game as Uniondale didn't register a point in the first seven volleys. With a commanding 7-1 lead the Chiefs never looked back as they continued their strong play.
Coach Steve Mariano said that consistency is the key to their game, "When we play our game focused and consistent, we can beat any team," he said.

The closest Uniondale got was in the second game, when they made it to within one at one point at 6-5. But Christopher Husmann led his team to six consecutive points giving Massapequa yet another commanding lead. Uniondale fell behind early in each game and Massapequa doesn't give up leads easily.
The third game was more of the same, with the Uniondale side slipping on easy strikes. The Chiefs capitalized with strong serving from all six on the court including important strikes by Jesse Finkel and Christian Smith.
Massapequa took the game 25-12 and Uniondale was swept 3-0. Coach Mariano says they need to stay focused for the semi-final.
"We need to keep our intensity at a high level in practice," he said. "And work on our consistency on serve and receive."
Massapequa plays Port Washington in the Semi-final at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Roslyn.
