Massapequa Fire Department, Pendergast Fund Benefit This Saturday

The Hope for Matthew Benefit is THIS Saturday, 11/15, from 4pm-8pm at the East End Firehouse in Massapequa.

The weeks have flown by, and the fundraiser is almost upon us! The festivities will be THIS Saturday, Nov. 15 from 4pm-8pm at the East End Firehouse on Merrick Rd.

Matthew Roth is a 20 year old Massapequa resident and 2012 graduate of Massapequa High School. His parents, Gene and Ann-Marie, have been residents of Massapequa nearly their entire lives, Gene is a 30+ year member of the Massapequa Fire Department, and Ann-Marie has been a dedicated member of the MFD Ladies Auxiliary. Matthew is suffering from an undiagnosed illness that has stumped the best medical minds at hospitals including NYU, Colombia, and Mass General in Boston. To date, Matt has lost 97 pounds inexplicably since December 2013, and the weight loss continues unabated. The Roth’s last hope for a diagnosis is traveling to the renowned Mayo Clinic’s Undiagnosed Disease Center in Minnesota, the cost of which their insurance refuses to pay. The family’s finances have been devastated because of their medical bills.

Enter the Massapequa Fire Department and the Heather Pendergast Fund. These two organizations have stepped up to organize a fundraiser to support the Roth Family in their time of need. The “Hope for Matthew” Benefit will take place on November 15, 2014 at the East End Firehouse in Massapequa from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. The fundraiser will feature music, food, face painting, a 50/50 raffle, and a Chinese Auction with donated prizes from local vendors. Proceeds will go to the Roth Family, and everyone is invited to join us for this amazing cause.
