MASSAPEQUA, NY - The Massapequa Chiefs varsity football team closed out the regular season with a win, much to the delight of a spirited crowd.

Massapequa High School’s homecoming celebration on Oct. 28 began with a parade through town and ended with a 33-7 win over Plainview-Old Bethpage.

Each class designed a banner for the parade based on TV sitcoms with the seniors picking “Friends,” juniors selecting “Seinfeld,” sophomores highlighting “Big Bang Theory” and freshmen choosing the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”

Students from numerous clubs marched along with district administrators and board of education members.

The grand marshal was Town of Oyster Bay Parks Commissioner Joseph Pinto.

Senior members of the football team, cheerleaders and Chiefettes kickline team honored their parents by presenting them with blue and yellow flowers during a pre-game ceremony.

During the halftime show, the marching band and color guard entertained the crowd with their “Star Wars” routine. There were also performances by the cheerleaders and kickline team.

Matthew Camisa and Gabriela Ting were named the homecoming king and queen.
