Drunken Driving With 2 Children In Car; Nassau Man In Custody: Police

UNIONDALE, NY — A Massapequa man faces a charge of (Leandra's Law) drunken driving with two youngsters in his vehicle.

Marvin Villafuerte, 36, was stopped Wednesday afternoon in Uniondale as officers noticed his Dodge Ram making several traffic infractions, police said.

Villafuerte was stopped near the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Cunningham Avenue. Officers observed the driver had glassy eyes and the smell of alcohol, authorities said.

A sobriety test netted positive results and Villafuerte was placed under arrest.

The two passengers, ages five and six, were released into the custody of a family member, police said.

Villafuerte was also charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was due to be arraigned on Wednesday.
