Massapequa Marches To Victory At Homecoming
The Chiefs pulled ahead from a tie in the first half to crush the Baldwin Bruins.
The Massapequa High School stands were full of fans in their blue-and-gold who came to cheer the Chiefs on to victory for the annual homecoming game on Oct. 20. The team didn’t disappoint. Tied at halftime, the varsity squad then scored 27 points for a resounding 47-26 win over the Baldwin Bruins.
Festivities began with a parade through Massapequa Park, which featured the marching band, cheerleaders, movie-themed banners designed by each class and homecoming court. This year’s grand marshal was Maryanne Fisher in recognition of her recently completed 15 years of serving on the Massapequa School District Board of Education.
Pre-game ceremonies included the introduction of senior football players, cheerleaders and Chiefette kickline members, along with parents and family members, for senior recognition day. Antoinette Corigliano sang the National Anthem with assistance from students in the American Sign Language program.

In attendance were members of the 1968 Chiefs team, who were celebrating the 50th anniversary of winning the Rutgers Cup, presented to the outstanding football teams of the year in Nassau County. They were introduced between the first and second quarters.
Halftime festivities included performances by the varsity cheerleaders and the Chiefettes. Popular Disney animated movies such as “Toy Story” and “The Incredibles” came to life during the marching band and color guard’s show. The homecoming court was introduced as king Jack Graziano and queen Chelsea Fedele were crowned. The prince and princesses were Cameron Catanzaro and Isabella Inzinna from the freshmen class, Brian Halstead and Alexis Shaw from the sophomore class, Kevin McLeer and Kirstin Lisnoff from the junior class and Ryan Stapleton and Kayla Posporelis from the senior class.
