Massapequa Names New Assistant Principal For Lockhart

Louisa Vecchione will take the position on July 1, and will replace Laura Hulsaver.

The Massapequa School District announces that Louisa Vecchione has been named the assistant principal of Lockhart Elementary School, effective July 1. She will replace Laura Hulsaver, who will become the assistant principal of Unqua Elementary School.

Vecchione has been an educator in the district for the past decade, beginning as a second grade teacher at Unqua. She also taught sixth grade English language arts at Unqua and a seventh grade ELA at Berner Middle School. For the past two years, Vecchione has served as a technology learning coach at both the elementary and middle school levels, helping teachers incorporate technology into their instruction.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, childhood education and psychology from Hofstra University, a master’s degree as a literacy specialist from Columbia University Teacher’s College and a school building leadership certificate and technology leadership certificate from New York Institute of Technology.
