Massapequa Park Native Credited With Producing, Co-Writing Olivia Rodrigo’s Latest Single

Former "As Tall As Lions" frontman Dan Nigro has a producer credit on the "Driver's License" singer's latest single, "drop dead."

MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY — For Massapequa Park native Dan Nigro, producing pop chart-topping hits has become something of a tradition. While the former “As Tall As Lions” vocalist is credited with producing for Billy Idol, Carly Rae Jepsen, Chappell Roan, Finneas, Lorde and Renee Rapp, a new chapter started Friday, as longtime Nigro collaborator Olivia Rodrigo released the first single off of her upcoming album, “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.”

Released on streaming Friday and shipping as a CD single the same day, Rodrigo’s latest single is something of a new sound for an artist who oscillated between ballads and rock and roll on 2021’s “SOUR” and 2023’s GUTS, both of which were certified multi-platinum by the RIAA. A music video directed by Petra Collins accompanied the single’s release, while the full album is scheduled for release Jun. 12.

For Nigro, the producing and writing credit with Rodrigo is the latest in an already highly successful collaboration, with seven songs they've worked on together garnering over one billion Spotify streams and four of them reaching two billion.
