Massapequa Residents Among Students to Receive Susan Sutton Smith Award

ONEONTA, NY - SUNY Oneonta recently announced that over 130 students received the 2015-2016 Susan Sutton Smith Award for academic excellence, including two Massapequa residents.

The 139 total students who received the award were all freshmen, sophomores or juniors with a grade-point average of 3.9 or higher.

All the award winners received a certificate, a gift card to the campus bookstore, and an invitation to attend the annual Susan Sutton Smith Lecture and reception. Dr. Susan Bernardin, professor of English at SUNY Oneonta, delivered this year's lecture.

The Massapequa students who received the award included: Joseph DelPozzo, of Massapequa, a sophomore majoring in Professional Accounting and Jenna DiTommaso, of Massapequa Park, a sophomore majoring in Biology.

Several other local students received the award including:

• Jaclyn Marry, of Long Beach, a junior majoring in Biology
• Melissa Marry, of Long Beach, a sophomore majoring in Mathematics
• Samantha Johnson, of Levittown, a junior majoring in Mass Communications
• Jaclynn LoGatto, of Levittown, a junior majoring in Music Industry
• Christine Coleman, of Merrick, a sophomore majoring in Music Industry
• Keva Moore, of Garden City, a sophomore majoring in Professional Accounting
• Ashley Germinario, of Seaford, a sophomore majoring in Communication Studies
