Massapequa Veterinarian Named Long island Vet Of the Year

Dr. Ned Horowitz was recognized for his compassion to all animals and his willingness to help.

Massapequa Pet Vet's Dr. Ned Horowitz has been named the Veterinarian of the Year by Long Island Orchestrating for Nature (LION), a local animal advocacy organization.

Horowitz first reached out to LION when the group helped rescue dozens of rabbits abandoned at the Ronkonkoma train station earlier this year, and offered his services free of charge. He has since donated his services treating chickens rescued from animal sacrifice, goslings hooked by discarded fishing line and domestic ducks abandoned to the elements where they would not have survived. Just this month, his office examined a kitten LION rescued from a storm drain.

“Whether treating a chicken who narrowly escaped slaughter or a bunny who was mercilessly abandoned to the elements, Dr. Ned’s charity towards animals feathered and furry exemplifies the fact that a veterinarian’s oath does not stop at dogs and cats,” says LION’s President John Di Leonardo. “Dr. Horowitz is LION’s ‘Vet of the Year’ because all animals are individuals who deserve our kindness and respect as much as any with whom we share our homes.”
