'Math Bucket Challenge' Takes Over Massapequa School

Massapequa students are shaking up the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge with the same great results.

Lockhart Elementary School fifth and sixth graders purchased math worksheets for 50 cents, completed them, and nominated friends to do the same.

“All the students were gung ho about it because they all knew about the Ice Bucket Challenge over the summer,” said math teacher Matthew Cunha. “Kids were using their snack money to purchase math sheets. Our Lockhart families were also very generous.”

Students eventually raised $829 for ALS research.
