NHL Rookie Of The Year Comes To Port Washington

New York Islanders’ teen sensation Matthew Schaefer took a trip to Port Washington this week, showing off his NHL Rookie Of The Year trophy at Louie’s. The first overall pick had a banner year in his NHL debut season, picking up ROTY and the Calder Trophy, given to the league’s best defenseman.

“For every team, it's different, you know?” Coach Leigh Ann Zimmer said. “It's always different personalities, different teams. But every team, obviously, you're trying to win for them. You're trying to win for your seniors. So it never gets old…I love winning, and I'm going to do everything it takes to have my team be as successful as they can be, and to be prepared on game day.”

Star-Studded MMA Card Heads To UBS Arena

The professional Fighters League announced a night of fights at UBS Arena, scheduled for Jul. 31. The card will be co-headlined by undefeated champion Usman Nurmagomedov defending his lightweight title against third-ranked contender Archie “King” Colgan and undefeated flyweight competitor Dakota “Dangerous” Ditcheva taking on Denise “Miss Dynamite” Kielholtz in Ditcheva’s return to the octagon after multiple hand injuries, the fighting league announced.
