Nassau Teen Burns Home Down With Fireworks: Police
Police say that fireworks he stored in the home caught fire and burned the building down. No one was injured.
A Massapequa man was arrested on Sunday after police say that fireworks he was storing in his garage caught fire and burned a house down.
According to police, officers responded to a house fire on North Hickory Street in North Massapequa at 9 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found a home partially engulfed by flames. The officers entered the home and helped all the residents inside escape.
The North Massapequa Fire Department arrived and put out the fire shortly later. No one was injured.

Police say that an investigation led them to a resident of the home, 17-year-old John Yeager-Whelan, whom police say was storing fireworks and the remnants of fireworks which were set off and caused the fire. Police say Yeager-Whelan was arrested without incident.
Yeager-Whelan is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and unlawfully selling fireworks. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.
