No. 100: Grab a Bite at the Massapequa Diner
Sunrise Highway eatery has been an institution for decades.
When we recently asked a waitress at the Massapequa diner if we could get breakfast at the at 2 p.m., she seemed stunned by the question.
"Of course," she said, acting as if we just landed from Mars.
If we did, we certainly knew where to find some great comfort food.

The diner has been a Sunrise Highway institution since 1970. At the time, Massapequa had only five diners. Now there's only one.
In 1988, when Nick Glykos came on boad as co-owner, with Tom Zarboutis who stepped down as his son, Val, took over as Nick's partner. The two have run the diner together to this very day.

The diner holds 143 occupants and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They have a variety of salads and speciaity sandwiches, and gourmet eight-ounce burgers.
"We try to serve good food at a good price," says Tom Zarboutis. "We have a broad range of foods from breakfast to dinners to appitizers and late-night snacks."
