North Massapequa Firefighters Use Narcan to Revive Overdose Victim
The person was found not breathing in North Massapequa on Tuesday afternoon.

NORTH MASSAPEQUA NY - Members of the North Massapequa Fire Department used Narcan to rescue an unconscious person suffering from an apparent drug overdose in North Massapequa on Tuesday night.
According to Chief of Department Fred Ferrara, after rapidly arriving on the scene, department members quickly assessed the individual.
Firefighters immediately rendered necessary emergency medical attention.

“Medics then administered an opiate antidote known as Narcan while performing cardio pulmonary resuscitation on the victim,” Ferrara said.
Due the combined efforts and expertise of responding medics and firefighters on scene, the person was revived and transported to local hospital.

“I am extremely proud of our first responders here in the North Massapequa Fire Department,” Ferrara said. “Had it not been for their lifesaving skill and professionalism, this call for help could have had a much different ending.”
