North Massapequa Man Accused Of Killing Sister-In-Law Set For Arraignment On New Charges: Court Docs

MINEOLA, NY — The Oceanside music teacher accused of killing his sister-in-law is scheduled for arraignment on new charges Wednesday morning, court documents show.

North Massapequa resident Joseph Horner was arrested June 30 in connection with the strangling death of his sister-in-law, Stony Brook PhD student Victoria Castle, and charged with second-degree murder, police said. Previously, police said Horner could face up to 25 years to life in prison if found guilty of the second-degree murder charge.

According to court documents, Horner is now set to be charged with two additional counts of murder and two counts of rape Wednesday.

In the aftermath of Castle’s death, Horner was placed on administrative leave from the Oceanside School District while the Stony Brook student’s friends and colleagues remembered her as someone who “would bring light” wherever she went.
