North Massapequa Resident New Exec. Dir. at Charles Evans Center
Local health care facility providing services to underserved populations appoints North Massapequa's Dr. James R. Dolan, Jr.

December 15, 2017; North Massapequa, N.Y. – Dr. James R. Dolan, Jr., DSW, LCSW of North Massapequa was recently appoint new Executive Director at The Charles Evans Center (CEC), an Article 28 licensed health care facility operating as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and affiliate of Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities (ACLD).
In his role as Executive Director, Dr. Dolan provides broad level executive leadership over all functions of the health center, which provides comprehensive state-of-the-art medical care to those with special needs and to medically underserved populations. Services provided at the Center include: Family Medicine, Gynecology, Neurology, Podiatry, Dentistry, Behavioral and Mental Health, Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work and Case Management. The Center’s patient-centered focus is evident through its physical layout that promotes patient comfort and by how easily one can access the broad range of medical expertise that is provided.

Dr. Dolan was previously Acting Commissioner of Nassau County Department of Human Services where he oversaw the Office of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Developmental Disabilities; the Office for the Aging; the Office for Youth Services; and the Office for the Physically Challenged. In his dual role as Director of Community Services, he was responsible for the county-wide behavioral health and developmental disabilities service system.

As a Doctor of Social Work with nearly 40 years of experience, Dr. Dolan taught as an Adjunct Professor at the Adelphi University School of Social Work. Dr. Dolan has published articles addressing mental health and chemical dependency issues. He has also delivered numerous presentations on this topic to professionals, elected officials as well as community members. Dr. Dolan was also the host of the “Recovery Road” radio show from 2013 to 2016.
Residing in North Massapequa, Dr. Dolan has a private psychotherapy practice for the past 25 years. He and his wife have six children and two grandchildren.
Charles Evans Center grew out of Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD), a leading Long Island based not-for-profit agency devoted to supporting the pursuit of an enviable life for children and adults with autism, learning and developmental disabilities. As the Article 28 licensed primary medical care extension, CEC is dedicated to enhancing access to healthcare services and improving health outcomes for adults and children with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and behavioral health concerns. The target population includes low-income and medically underserved residents across Long Island, New York. Founded in 1957, Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD) is a 501(c)3 non-profit agency. Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2017, the organization continues to provide opportunities for children and adults with autism, learning and other developmental disabilities to pursue enviable lives, increase independence and foster supportive relationships within the community. ACLD employs more than 1,300 people and operates 80 different program sites including group homes and apartment programs across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Service programs include early childhood services, day habilitation, residential alternatives, vocational training and job placement, recreation programs, respite, family support services, Medicaid service coordination, and medical and behavioral health services.
