Over 180 Recruits Join Police Force

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter presented certificates of completion to 185 police recruits on May 31 at a graduation ceremony held at Hofstra University in Hempstead.

The recruits completed seven months of intense law enforcement training at the Nassau County Police Academy.

Out of the 185 graduates, 175 are members of the Nassau County Police Department and the remaining are graduating to Village and City Police Departments and the Sheriff Department.

“Nassau County has one of the lowest crime rates in the nation thanks to the dedicated men and women of the Police Department,” Mangano said. “Nassau County Police Officers are known for their professionalism and expertise in intelligence led policing.

Two days after the graduation, Mangano swore in a new class of 154 Nassau County police recruits at Police Headquarters in Mineola.

"As County Executive I take great pride in our Police Department and I wish these recruits tremendous success as our residents are counting them,” he said.
