Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Car

The 23-year-old man was hit while trying to cross Wantagh Avenue early Sunday morning.

BETHPAGE, NY - A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car in Bethpage early Sunday morning, according to Nassau Police.

The 23-year-old man was attempting to cross Wantagh Avenue west to east at Boone Street at about 12:25 a.m. when he was struck by a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by a 46-year-old woman traveling north on Wantagh Avenue, police said.

As a result of the crash, the man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police Medic, police said.

The driver remained at scene and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, then released.

The car was impounded for brake and safety tests.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. The investigation into this non-criminal accident continues.
