Police: Man Arrested After Trying to Rob Woman at Massapequa Health Club
Police say the man had been banned from health club at the Sunrise Mall, but he used a fake name to get in.

A 30-year-old Central Islip man tried to rob a woman as she got into a tanning bed at a Massapequa health club in June, police said.
William B. Neal was arrested at 12:45 a.m. Friday at Planet Fitness located at 1040 South Broadway in Hicksville.
According to police, Neal entered XSport Fitness at the Sunrise Mall around 10:45 a.m. on June 18. Neal had previously notified by XSport management that he was no longer allowed on XSport properties, but Neal entered the property that morning using a false name, police said.

Nel then entered a tanning booth room and hid behind the equipment, police said.
When a 52-year-old women entered the room and tanning bed, Neal came out of hiding and attempted to remove the woman’s personal property, police said.

When the woman fought back, Neal pushed her down and she sustained a large contusion and substantial pain to her right upper arm, police said. Neal then fled the building, police said.
Neal is charged with assault, burglary, petty larceny and criminal trespass. He will be arraigned on Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
