Police: Man Charged in 2014 Massapequa Home Invasion

The 28-year-old was arrested Tuesday.

A Hempstead man who forced his way into a Massapequa home last year and robbed two people inside was arrested on Tuesday, police said.

Darrin Sims, 28, is charged with first degree burglary and two counts of robbery, Nassau Police said.

According to police, Sims knocked on the door of a Clocks Boulevard residence at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2014.

When the 29-year-old male homeowner opened the door, Sims grabbed the man’s hand and forced his way inside, police said.

Sims demanded money and the homeowner along with another relative complied, police said.

Sims then fled the scene in a car with an undetermined amount of cash, two cellphones and a set of headphones, police said.

Sims was arrested Tuesday night after he responded to the Glen Cove Police Department regarding a separate incident, police said. He will be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
