Police: Massapequa Man Sexually Abused Teens He Met While Volunteering as Theatre Stage Manager

The 31-year-old was arrested on Thursday.

A Massapequa man was arrested on Thursday and charged with sexually abusing two teenage boys in 2007 and 2008, Suffolk Police said.

Following an investigation by the Special Victims Section, detectives arrested 31-year-old Kevin Kelly on criminal sex act charges on Plant Avenue in Hauppauge on Thursday around 5:30 p.m, police said.

The incidents involved a 14-year-old boy in 2007 and a 15-year-old boy in 2008, police said.

Kelly met the victims when he was a stage manager for BroadHollow Theatre Company, which is based in East Islip. The owner of the theatre company told Newsday that Kelly had volunteered as a stage manager, but that he was no longer working with the company by 2012.

Kelly is charged with second degree sex act and third degree sex act. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
