Residents Can Return Unused Medicine At Massapequa Park Event
The Town of Oyster Bay's "Shed the Meds" takes place on Sept. 23.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — In an effort for the community to rid itself of unwanted medicine, the Town of Oyster Bay is hosting a "Shed the Meds" Day.
The Sept. 23 event will allow residents to properly discard prescription drugs.
"Through proper disposal of old medications, we can prevent them from contaminating the environment through improper disposal and also keep them out of the wrong hands and away from young people," Supervisor Joseph Saladino said.

The "Shed the Meds" takes place at in the back parking lot of Massapequa Park Village Hall.
For those who can't make it in person, disposal containers are also located in police precincts across the county.

To participate, unused or expired medication should be left in the original container with all personal information removed.
Liquid medication will not be accepted, but intra-venous solutions, injectables and syringes will be received.
