And Discord

I have sometimes

The latest discord is due to our archenemy, the dreaded Covid.

Living in a residence of 129 over 50’s, some quite a bit further advanced in life from that number, I am admittedly, a bit rigid about possible Covid exposure.

Consequently, I have recently canceled a long awaited social event.

Since the end of summer is now on the horizon and cold weather looms, I planned an ice cream event inviting a quite small group of friends and neighbors.

This morning one of the honored guests informed me she planned a humanitarian visit to a current Covid patient the day before the function.

While my charitable friend feels she will take all the necessary precautions, I am quite distressed . Consequently, I made a difficult decision and have now canceled the party.

Having been a Covid victim once and losing several precious years of life in isolation, I now believe it is not only a precaution but a responsibility to postpone the event. I will also isolate myself from contact with my beloved friend for five days after her choice of contact.

Although I desperately fear the risk the loss of a vital friendship, and regret being so adamant, this time I am inflexible.

However, I am also left questioning if there is any justification for my unusual determination and reaction.

Or have I fallen off the road called caution into the cauldron of fear?

And I do so wish I was making music rather than discord.
